The start of the second half of the men’s basketball game between and Ohio State was delayed after a piece of metal fell from the jumbotron at Assembly Hall right before play was to begin.
As Ohio State’s Brice Sensabaugh was walking near half court, a metal rod, as described on the FOX broadcast, fell a few feet away. The game was delayed briefly, but a maintenance crew went up into the scoreboard to check what had occurred.
According to the broadcast, the officials were assured everything was safe.
This is not the first time this has happened. In 2014, from the Assembly Hall ceiling into empty seats. The incident postponed a game against Iowa.
